Google Analytics alternatives that are privacy-friendly?

I'm moving away from Google Analytics due to GDPR concerns.
Looking into Matomo, Plausible, and Simple Analytics.
Has anyone here tried any of them?

Plausible or Umami. Both work great self-hosted and feel very lightweight.

Matomo is powerful but heavy. Self hosting it takes some server resources.
